Great info on this upcoming meteor shower from NASA.
Its just unfortunate that it wont be much of a show for us in the South. We might however see some nice crumbs that fall off the Northern Hemisphere Perseid table in the pre dawn sky around the peak (11,12,13 August) facing north.
alpha-Capricornids spewed a few fireballs late July 2013

At sunset on the 30th… Venus, Jupiter and Mercury line up more accurately and symetrically in the “dance of the planets” with Venus in the middle and Jupiter dropping closer towards the Sun.
At sunset on the 30th…….. Jupiter has continued to drop lower and now the three planets Jupiter, Venus and Mercury appear in an almost straight. Jupiter is lowest, Mercury highest and Venus in the middle.
The tight clustering of the 26th is a thing of the past as the dance of the planets continues. Jupiter drops level with Venus and Mercury departs to the right.
I managed to get a couple of nice photos, not of their closest clustering but with clouds at sunset.
Venus is the brightest with Jupiter second and Mercury the faintest at the bottom right.
Jupiter, Venus and Mercury looking good at dusk in the western sky on the 26th. Venus and Jupiter will be even closer by Tuesday evening the 28th.
Ten minutes later and a little darker.
